The Deighton Cup is proud to host the return of an event that celebrates the most famous bourbon libations – the spirit of choice when at the track. The perfect summer refreshment, these fabulous cocktail inspirations date back to the early 1800s and beyond. Mouth-watering beverages are designed and perfected over months by eager entrants only to be tested against a superb class of peers and judged by some of the finest palates in the city.
In celebration of our 5th Anniversary, the competition will be held the day before Deighton Cup, on Friday, July 21st from 12 pm to 3 pm at Reflections: The Garden Terrace atop The Hotel Georgia. Spots are complimentary, include a welcome beverage. and are limited to just 250. Reserve yours here.
The Deighton Cup and its judging panel of industry heavyweights will invite the crème-de-la-crème of mixologists, barmen, and aspiring booze hounds to partake in the 5th annual Cocktail Jockey mixology competition. For the first time ever, entrants will create their best variation on a classic champagne cocktail selected by our Cocktail Director.

The prize? Racetrack fame, bragging rights, cash for first place and in celebration of our 5th year, a very special prize addition that will be announced soon. The winner’s name and cocktail will be engraved on the one and only Boothby Julep trophy. Other special surprises are also in store for contestants including limited edition pieces from our great partners. Space is limited to 10 hopefuls. Alex Black has honed his skills in hospitality and bartending for over 15 years, and has integrated himself into Vancouver’s worlAd class hospitality community including top tier locations under the Donnelly and Glowbal umbrellas as well as Hawksworth, Boulevard, the Vancouver Club and is currently Head Bartender at Chef David Hawksworth’s Nightingale restaurant.
